About Medical Korea 2021 Conference
Medical Korea 2021, the 11th Global Healthcare and Medical Tourism Conference was hosted by Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI). The online event was successfully held from March 18th – 24th, gathering over 3,000 participants from around the world.
With the theme “Global Healthcare, Where Your Days Begin Again,” the conference brought together academic and industry experts from around the world to analyze and share insights on the latest global healthcare trends. The discussion topics included trends in medical tourism, policies, and digital health as well as academic insights into the latest medical technologies and therapies. Special sessions also discussed Korea’s medical advancement, especially in treatments for severe illnesses and medical training. Online business meetings between global buyers and sellers were held as well, removing the time zone and distance barriers.
The conference began with opening remarks from the Ministry Health and Welfare, followed by a keynote speech by Stephanie Allen, PhD, the Global Healthcare Leader at Deloitte, on the topic “The Challenges of the Global Healthcare Industry After COVID-19.”
The panelist discussions began with the first session titled “Changes and Prospects of the Global Healthcare Market.” In this session, experts who attended by the referral of W Medical Strategy Group discussed various trends and changes in the recent healthcare market and the comprehensive topic of the conference. The panel was led by the moderator, Joseph McMenamin, MD, JD, EVP of W Medical Strategy Group and a medical law expert. Panelists with in-depth of knowledge of different fields came together to share their insights: Laura Carabello, Editor and Publisher of Medical Travel and Digital Health News; Sundeep Lal, PhD, CEO and Founder of BioConnexUS; and Peter Corless, JD, a Partner at Mintz and a healthcare intellectual property expert.
